Four Nabbed in Drug Raid in Barnegat

Jan 23, 2019

A two-month-long multi-jurisdictional investigation into illegal drug activity in the Southern Ocean County area resulted in the arrest of four residents on various drug charges last week. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said that on Jan. 15,  Prosecutor’s Strike Force detectives, along with police departments of  Stafford, Barnegat and Lacey townships and the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, executed a no-knock search warrant at the Barnegat Township residence of Ronald Lawrence and Denisha Nash. Lawrence and Nash, both 30, were arrested at that time.

Billhimer said that simultaneously with the execution of this warrant, strike force detectives assisted the Toms River Police Department in executing a motor vehicle stop of a 2014 white Kia in the area of Route 37 and Mule Road in Toms River driven by Carol Ann Budinski, 36,  of Toms River. A search warrant was executed on the Kia, resulting in the seizure of quantities of cocaine. Detectives also identified Leashan Coleman, 39, of Barnegat as a co-conspirator in this drug-trafficking activity. She was taken into custody at her home in Barnegat.

Billhimer said as a result of the investigation and the execution of the warrants, detectives seized approximately 1,250 glassine envelopes of heroin, approximately 20 grams of cocaine, approximately $1,600 in cash and assorted items associated with the distribution of controlled dangerous substances and the maintaining of a controlled dangerous substance manufacturing/production facility, including new glassine packets, sifters, stamps, rubber bands and other packaging paraphernalia.

All four suspects were charged with possession and distribution of heroin among other complaints. Lawrence was also charged with maintaining a controlled dangerous substance manufacturing facility.

Lawrence was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of a detention hearing. The other three were processed and released, pending a municipal court date. E.E.
