From Beer to Brides, Southern Ocean Chamber Events Are Diverse

What do you get when you mix water, barley, hops, yeast and businesspeople? Find out at the April Business in Action networking event, “Craft Beer 101,” held by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting will be hosted by TGIFriday’s, Manahawkin, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13.

“We are taking business meetings and bringing them to where our members do business,” described the chamber newsletter inviting folks to the meeting. “Network like never before with refreshments, a craft beer educational seminar and Chamber updates.”

Looking for dependable employees? Hire a hero. But catch the opportunity now – the date is Friday, April 8 for the free Hiring Fair and Transition Summit at Joint Base (McGuire Air Force and Lakehurst Naval) .

Service members, veterans and military spouses will be connected with area employers at the event, which the chamber previewed in December to make Island businesses aware.

We Do It Here

More and more couples are choosing LBI as the most memorable place to tie the knot, and the annual Wedding Road Show of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce attracts brides-to-be from both in and out of the area.

The 8th Wedding Road Show is Sunday, April 17.

Brides and their entourages can meet the region’s top event specialists by actually touring premier venues and tasting samples of wedding fare. Photographers, florists, designers, entertainers and other professionals will also be there.

To register in advance, visit bit.ly/LBIBride. There is no cost to participate.

Sign-ups will also be taken onsite the day of the event. There are three sites at which to register and start: Tuckerton Seaport on Route 9 in Tuckerton; Holiday Inn, Route 72 in Manahawkin; and Southern Ocean Chamber Visitor Center, on the incoming causeway in Ship Bottom. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. on April 17.

The tour is self-guided. “Last year we had a record number of brides and guests attend to meet, greet and eat their way through venues filled with our members who provide wedding services,” said chamber organizers.

The Wedding Road Show is presented by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce with support from the N.J. Division of Travel & Tourism.

Sports New Look

If you were a tourist longing for Long Beach Island, you’d want the Escape Guide. Second homeowners and locals get a lot out of it, too – where to go, what to see and do in the Long Beach Island region.

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce distributes 25,000 of them, and the 2016 edition is out now. The new edition uses the work of local photographers and artists to spotlight the shore.

The 46-page color booklet is available at the chamber information center, 265 West Ninth St., Ship Bottom, or online at visitLBIregion.com.

It features listings of parks, trails and surfing beaches, sections promoting art, nature, dining, festivals such as Chowderfest, attractions, recreation, shopping, lodging and history.
