Generous Support

Jul 19, 2017

To the Editor:

On Monday, June 12, Southern Regional High School seniors graduated and celebrated afterwards with an alcohol- and drug-free party called “Project Graduation.” This marked Project Graduation’s 23rd year.

Just hours after graduating, 386 graduates were bused to Funplex in Moorestown for an evening of rides, games, food and fun. This annual event would not happen without the support it receives from the people and businesses in the area.

We’d like to thank all of the donors, without whom we could not make this event so affordable to the students. We’d also like to thank the Southern Regional Transportation Department for getting our kids to Funplex safely each year, and the Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, Stafford and Surf City police departments for sending officers to oversee the safety of the night. It is because of this generosity that no student is ever turned away from attending and the graduates get to enjoy one last night together before moving on to the next chapter of their lives.

Finally, we’d like to thank the Stafford Recreation Department, the Stafford Township Council and the Southern Regional School District, without whose backing this event could not take place each year.

It is really a great evening for the students and one we’d love to see continue for years to come. This event is more than just a party for the seniors. It is an opportunity for our community to come together to show our young people that we care about them and want them to stay safe, a chance to show everyone what a great community we live in.
