If you’re tired of buying Dad the same gift every year for Father’s Day, please read on. There are only so many colognes you can give him before the house starts to smell like a Yankee Candle store.

Whether you’re shopping for your father, grandpa, brother, friend, significant other (you get the point), it’s important to find a gift that really embodies that specific person. Sink ’R Swim in Haven Beach is the ultimate men’s shop, and owner Sam DiPietro is confident that she has something for every type of man.

We all know it’s a lie when Dad says, “I don’t want anything,” so ignore that statement and head to Sink ’R Swim (there’s still time). Which personality best describes your pops? We’ve made it even easier to find the perfect gift for all the rad dads out there!

The Fisherman Dad

Shades for Days. Costa sunglasses are polarized, flexible and sleek-looking, which makes them ideal for fishermen who spend all day in the sun. Some styles even feature air vents to allow for ventilation.

“They are super technical, but they’re also more stylish than ever, not just made for professional fishermen,” DiPietro said. “They’re super clear, and there are different colored lenses that are meant for different fishing waters – shallow or deep sea. Plus, they are really good for your eyes.”

Eco-Friendly Options. The Southern Tide X Ocearch Collection is a special line of performance clothing made entirely out of recycled goods, so dads can protect the environment and look good while doing it.

“Everything they make is out of recycled plastic or fishing line. Each sun shirt is made with 18 plastic bottles. I really like that. It’s definitely for the dressier but conscious fisherman dad,” DiPietro said.

Brave the Storm. Fishermen must be prepared for inclement weather at any time. Grundens sport fishing jacket is 100 percent waterproof, yet breathable for those unbearably hot days.

“It even has vents under the arms that you can unzip to cool off the armpits.” Reel this one in for Dad!

Cool Kicks. Sperrys are the shoes of summertime. DiPietro carries classic boating shoes as well as fully waterproof sneakers for a day out on the water. The anti-slip sneaker sole makes it easier and safer to walk on wet surfaces.

The Tailgater Dad

Sock Party. When in doubt, buy socks. They are a wardrobe staple and a gift that you can guarantee will be used. This year, DiPietro has the limited edition Stance Eagles Super Bowl Champion socks. Dad can show them off at the next game or wear them while he is watching TV – either works. Fly over and get ’em.

Stitch Perfect. Dad can rep his favorite sports team with Smathers and Branson customizable needlepoint accessories like leather koozies, keychains, card wallets and belts.

DiPietro has a variety of accessories for major football, baseball and hockey teams, as well as popular colleges – Eagles, Jets, Giants, Penn State, Villanova, Rutgers, Michigan, Alabama, Pittsburgh, to name a few.

“It is something different and nicer to give a diehard sports fan, rather than a basic T-shirt,” she said.

Crack Open a Brew. With the Peter Millar rain jacket, Dad will always have a bottle opener on him (literally). This cool jacket is not only fashionable, it’s functional, too. It is designed with a bottle opener inside the chest pocket. No one will know it’s there, but Dad can lend a helping hand when he needs to. It will come in handy for those pesky, non-twist open beers.

The Athletic Dad

A Hole in One. For the avid golfer, DiPietro brought in Peter Millar shirts and pants, which she described as “the ultimate golfing clothes.”

“We have shirts with and without the logo. These pants are sports material; they are super silky and comfortable. It’s called their Crown soft collection. Also, in addition to the accessories, Smathers and Branson also makes golf head covers stitched with team logos,” she said.

Byrd is the Word. Byrd hair pomade is perfect for the post-gym workout to keep Dad’s ’do fresh and in place. Inspired by the on-the-go surfer lifestyle, the wax-based pomade styles and texturizes hair without leaving a greasy residue. Plus, the tiny tin can fit in a shirt pocket! “Look slick,” in the words of the brand’s slogan.

In the Bag. Dakine waterproof gym bags are stylish and keep workout gear and apparel safe and dry. These bags are sturdy and reliable – bring them to the gym or beach, or stow them in the car for personal belongings.

Short Story. Meet the shorts that can do it all. “Vuori makes soft shorts you can work out in and then jump in the ocean … all the gym shorts are convertible. So, you can go for a run and then swim in the bay and go out, and you’re good to go. They’re quick-drying and made from light materials,” DiPietro said.

Keep on Trucking. The best way to beat the heat and stay shielded from the sun? A trucker hat! “Howler Bros. full mesh trucker hat is lightweight, vented and really cool.”

The Outdoorsy Dad

Stay Cool. Howler Bros. tech shirts are sweat-wicking and comfortable, plus they also have sunglasses cleaners sewn on the inside of the bottom hem of the shirt or inside the pockets. DiPietro said it is one of her most reliable technical brands.

Protect the Planet. United by Blue, an outdoor lifestyle retailer from Philadelphia, makes its clothing and accessories from recycled trash in an effort to preserve and protect the environment.

“Every item they sell, they take a pound of trash out of the ocean, so a lot of people like to hear that. I have a lot of their accessories, like convertible waterproof backpacks, satchels and totes,” DiPietro said. “It makes a great gift, one that gives back.”

Seek Adventure. For the dad who loves to explore the world (by hiking, biking or walking), Arcade adventure belts are a necessity. The name says it all!

“Adventure belts are one size fits all and completely waterproof. They don’t ever rust, and they actually keep your pants up … so basically, they do their job and don’t stretch.”

Set Your Sights. Sun Ski sunglasses are a popular choice because they are affordable, super stylish and work to protect the eyes from UV radiation.

“They are $60, polarized, really light and come in many different colors. They were recently featured in a bunch of different magazines for being great outdoor sunglasses and, so far, everyone loves them,” DiPietro said.

Stay Hydrated. Corkcicle canteens are crafted from stainless steel and are designed to keep beverages hot or cold for hours. New bottles have a sport top that flips open to make it easier to drink, and a convenient screw-on handle to attach it to a bike or bag.

The LBI Dad

Wine Not? BYOB is no problem.

“I think this is the best gift I have here. It’s a leather wine bottle holder for a bike, so you can bring your own bottle to your favorite restaurant.” Sounds like a great idea for a romantic date night.

Shop Local. For the man who loves his hometown, he’ll want to wear his favorite brands, like a lightweight sweatshirt from Sink ’R Swim. “It’s great for when the sun sets and it gets breezy on the Island.”

Catch a Wave. “Nothing represents LBI more than Jetty,” DiPietro said. “The LBI dad would definitely be wearing Jetty board shorts.” You can’t go wrong with board shorts for a dad who spends a lot of time at the beach.

Game On. How about some outdoor fun? Tiki toss backyard games make a great gift that the whole family can enjoy. It’s the perfect addition to any summer barbecue!

The Cool Dad

Head Honcho Ponchos. It’s the best “after-the-beach” top, according to DiPietro.

“It’s like a luxury blanket from Mexico, but it’s a poncho made by this brand called Faherty. They are really nice and soft and come in a lot of colors.” These Baja hoodies will never go out of style.

Party Hard. Duvin, a surf lifestyle brand, and Barney Cools, “an Australian lifestyle brand with a rebellious spirit,” make the ultimate party shirts. A party shirt is defined by DiPietro as a button-up that comes in fun prints like flamingos, Hawaiian designs, anything you can imagine. They are loose-fitting and breezy and look best when slightly unbuttoned. Party shirts are best sellers at Sink ’R Swim, especially for the younger crowd.

“It’s definitely for the dad who is the talk of the party and is having the most fun out of anyone. You’d be proud of your dad for wearing this shirt and pulling it off,” DiPietro said.

Shark Sighting. Talk about fierce fashion. Swim with Sharks is a hip New York City brand that specializes in making coastal-inspired hoodies, hats and shirts.

“I am the only store in New Jersey that carries it. I found them on Instagram and decided to bring them here. Everyone loves that it’s super simple, clean and badass.”

Take a bite into this!

The Cozy Dad

All About Comfort. Peter Millar cashmere sweatpants are the softest pants ever. For the dad who likes to kick back and relax on the couch, these are must-haves. For the complete cozy look, DiPietro recommends pairing the joggers with a Velvet T-shirt.

“Velvet makes the most comfortable clothes. Once you try them on, you won’t want to take them off,” she said.

Underneath It All. Undergarments are just as important (and trendy!) as outerwear. With unique prints and durable fabrics, socks and underwear are always a classic gift.

“Richer Poorer makes socks, boxers, boxer briefs and shirts that are soft and reliable and fit really well. It’s a customer-favorite for sure,” DiPietro said.

The Host Dad

Conversation Countertop. Liven up the bar area and keep it clean and dry with a rubber spill mat. The mats feature fun sayings like “A man walks into a bar” or “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.” Dad can also accessorize the bar with fancy bottle openers and copper straws.

Drink Up. Corkcicle tumblers and stemless wine glasses are durable and excellent for outdoor events.

“When you’re outside, no bugs will get in your cup because it’s covered on the top. It stays super cold for nine hours.”

Help is on the Way. Stay up too late? Have a few too many? The Men’s Society overindulgence survival kit is the best cure. The kit includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, sleep mask, restorative bath oil and bright eyes eye cream … all the essentials to feel refreshed. Don’t worry, we all overdo it sometimes.

Shirt Show. “Tommy Bahama party shirts are for the ultimate backyard host dad. He’s always wearing one of these button-ups as he’s grilling or fixing up drinks for the guests,” DiPietro said.

Castaway is another brand that specializes in embroidered shorts and party shirts with fun prints like fish, martinis, flags and more unique patterns.

The Surfer Dad

Hang Ten. Katin, the original board short maker, brought back old-school corduroy shorts and men can’t get enough of them.

“They love this super original, no technology, back-to-basics type of look,” DiPietro said. “Jack O’Neill is also a popular brand, and their sport board shorts are great for paddleboarding and surfing.”

Get Roped In. Pig & Hen bracelets, made in Amsterdam, are crafted with nautical rope and a boating latch closure.

“They vary in size and color, and I’ve sold a ton of them already because they are different than the typical nautical bracelet, and they are much sturdier,” DiPietro said.

It’s Glow Time. Surfers are known for their bronzed bodies, and Sun Bum tanning oil will help keep that tan going all summer long. It nourishes and hydrates the skin with ingredients like aloe vera and green tea butter.

Stay Sun-Safe. Current all-natural zinc surf paste, made locally on Long Beach Island, protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays. The paste contains beeswax to make it water-resistant and last longer on the skin.

The Business Dad

Money Talks. Help Dad keep his dough organized with money clips that feature funny sayings, such as “Life Savings” or “Beer Money.”

Write On. If dad’s second home is his office, he’d appreciate a luxury pen, especially ones with slightly inappropriate expressions like, “Kicking ass and taking notes” and “Literary AF.”

Neck & Neck. Which is better, a neck-tie or a bowtie? It’s a tie. Collard Greens ties and bowties are made in America and are a classic choice for the business dad. If you purchase a tie, you’ll need a tie clip to go with it. Easy Tiger’s tie clips feature sayings, too, like “Distinguished AF” and “My eyes are up here!” It’s a clever way to make business-casual attire a little more fun.

Shoe Game Strong. Sperry dress shoes with sneaker soles are “perfect for the office and the commute,” according to DiPietro. Peter Millar leather loafers are more formal office shoes for the traditional businessman. The options are endless!

Sip, Sip, Hooray. After a long day at work, Dad will need a drink to take the edge off. “Liquid assets” glassware is ideal for the man with a sense of humor.
