‘Green Drinks’ Gathering at TGI Friday’s Sept. 18

Sep 11, 2018

“The drinks aren’t green, just the conversation,” the event flier reads. It’s a Green Drinks gathering in the bar/lounge at the TGI Friday’s in Manahawkin on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. – a simple, unstructured social event for ecology-conscious individuals who are concerned with the tasks of preserving the natural environment and securing a sustainable future.

Admission is free; drinks and food are purchased individually.

GDI is comprised of “a lively mix of people from NGOs, academia, government and business,” according to the organization. “It’s a great way of catching up with people you know and making new contacts. Everyone invites someone else along, so there’s always a different crowd, making Green Drinks an organic, self-organizing network. Many have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, done deals and had moments of serendipity.”

Guests are encouraged to enjoy some networking in a friendly atmosphere in which to learn what like-minded people are working on and “bounce ideas around,” said event coordinator Barbara Reynolds. She suggests bringing helpful items such as business cards, brochures and other literature.

“It’s a good time to catch up on what environmentally conscious people are working on,” she said.
