Healthy Habitat

Aug 01, 2018

To the Editor:

Thank you for the enlightening story of the peregrine falcon from the Causeway Bridge (“Falcon Fledgling Hit By Vehicle on Causeway,” 7/25). I was saddened to hear of the fledgling Blue Bonnet’s passing. But the news of the new foster chick Blue is encouraging.

Also, I would like to thank Ben Wurst and Jim Verhagen for keeping a watch over these magnificent birds of prey. When we see these birds and the osprey alive and doing well in our area we know our environment is also doing well.

I have lived in Ship Bottom for 52 years and have seen many things come and go, good and bad. My yard is certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a backyard habitat so I am aware of taking care of the environment around us.

Let’s all do our part to keep the waters and the air unpolluted so our wildlife can continue to grow and thrive.
