Help ‘Adopt a Highway’ in Tuckerton

Apr 11, 2018

After working on the application process for about a year, the Tuckerton Environmental Commission has received “Adopt a Highway” certification from the New Jersey Department of Transportation for a section of Route 9 in Tuckerton. On Saturday, April 28 (rain date Sunday, April 29) from 10 a.m. to noon, it is hosting its first cleanup. Because Route 9 is a heavily trafficked area, safety vests and a safety monitor are required. The area selected for cleanup is one side of Route 9 from Tip Seaman Drive to the end of the borough near Cable Road.

Trash “grabbers” will be provided, but participants are asked to dress appropriately and bring their own drinking water. State Department of Transportation trucks will pick up the bags.

Volunteers, from teenagers to adults, are asked to call 609-296-8819 to sign up. —P.J.
