Help the Fight Against Cancer at Southern’s Relay For Life Event on May 20

May 03, 2017

Once again this year, the American Cancer Society is asking participants to keep the fight alive to eradicate cancer by taking part in one of many Relay For Life events, including one scheduled for Saturday, May 20 at Southern Regional High School.

Relay For Life is a team fundraising event – designed to honor cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer and support the mission of the American Cancer Society – through which team members take turns walking around a track or designated path.

The Relay For Life event at Southern will be held on the track from 2 p.m. to midnight. The opening ceremony is slated for 3:30 p.m., followed by the Survivors’ Lap at 4 p.m. and the Caregivers’ Lap at 4:15 p.m. The Luminaria Ceremony is at 9 p.m., with the closing ceremony scheduled for 11:30 p.m. This year’s goal is to raise $75,000 and it’s not too late to sign up.
