Humbled and Grateful

Jun 06, 2018

To the Editor:

I would like to thank everyone who commemorated Memorial Day with us. It was an honor to march in the Beach Haven parade and attend the moving ceremony at Bicentennial Park.

We at VFW Post 3729 here on LBI were humbled and grateful for the recognition shown to us. You might have seen us selling poppies recently around town. More than once we got a little choked up as many of you thanked us for our service. Just hearing that made our day.

After the beautiful ceremony in the park, our members and friends had a small tribute to our fallen brethren at our post on 79th Street before going to Ship Bottom for that town’s dedication. It was a very emotional yet enjoyable day.

We later had refreshments back at the post for all who wished to come by and I’d like to acknowledge Murphy’s Market for donating several sandwich platters, which were delicious and quickly dispatched with.

Just a reminder that our post is open to all, so you need not be a veteran to stop by. Friends and neighbors are always welcome.
