Tune in to the TBS network on June 16 at 10 p.m. – after “Big Bang” and before “Conan” – to see the premiere of “Clipped,” a brand new sitcom starring a familiar face. Matt Cook, Island boy and Southern Regional High School alumnus, formerly of Barnegat Light and Ship Bottom, has landed a starring role in the new half-hour, multi-camera, live-studio-audience show by Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, the creators of “Will and Grace.”

“Clipped” is set in a Boston barbershop called Buzzy’s, with comedy icon George Wendt (the actor who played Norm in “Cheers”) as Buzzy. Cook plays Mo, a sweet, loyal friend with a hilarious case of lovesickness.

Section Two caught up with Cook on the set of the show this week, where he was shooting the first season’s 10th and final episode. He described the gig as “a dream job, to work with the best people in the business.”

He added he couldn’t be happier to be working on the Warner Brothers lot, “where Pee Wee Herman went to get his bike back in ‘Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.’”

He earned his degree in theater at Rider University in Lawrenceville in 2006, moved out to Los Angeles, got some “great training” at The Groundlings improv and sketch comedy school (he remains a member of the main company there) and has enjoyed stints in TV series including “Curb Your Enthusiasm” in 2009, “Harry’s Law” in 2012 and “True Blood” in 2013.

The show, which Cook described as “Friends”-meets-“Taxi,” is about a group of coworkers who all attended the same high school but moved in different social circles.

Now, fans of the show can follow it in various social media circles. The TV premiere will also be a live tweeting event for the cast members and writers. Find “Clipped” on Facebook and Twitter, and hit up Cook on Twitter @MattCookTweeted and on Instagram @MattCookTookPics.
