Jewish Community Center of LBI Prepares for High Holiday Services

Aug 30, 2017

In late August, those in the Jewish community begin to think about the important upcoming holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The Jewish Community Center of Long Beach Island is currently planning for the seasonal observances, which all residents and visitors are welcome to attend.

The JCC will hold Rosh Hashanah services on the eve of the holiday, at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, and throughout both days of the holiday, Sept. 21 and 22. Kol Nidre, the evening service before Yom Kippur, is scheduled for Sept. 29 at 6 p.m., and Yom Kippur services begin on Sept. 30 at 9 a.m. A Break the Fast at the end of Yom Kippur will also be provided at the synagogue.

Rabbi Michael Jay will conduct the services, along with Cantor Avi Green.

As JCC President of the Board Rose Valentine noted, attending services at the JCC of LBI is a perfect way to extend the summer season. “Over the years, families have chosen to celebrate the high holidays together at our peaceful, shore-like synagogue on this special island,” she remarked. “We welcome members and guests alike to make this a family tradition.”

The JCC is located at 2411 Long Beach Blvd. in the Spray Beach section of Long Beach Township.
