Joey D.’s Rockin’ Oldies

Jul 04, 2018
Joey D.

HOME BASE: “We’re South Jersey guys.”

STYLE: Oldies, doo wop, Motown – even the occasional unexpected contemporary “throwback” hit (thanks, Bruno Mars!)

LINEUP: John Bishop, lead vocals and percussion; Bobby Warren, guitar and vocals; Joey D., drums and vocals.

FUN FACTS: The trio initially formed in 1966. They specialize in “the music we grew up with, and we’ve held onto it. Now it’s a niche.” The band works a steady schedule of three nights a week, often playing fundraisers for local charitable and civic organizations.

INSIDE TRACK: The performances are broadcast live from the bar on WBNJ 91.9.

WORD UP: “We’re all entertainers. We just enjoy being out there,” according to Joey D. Making people dance and hearing fans say they love to reminisce with the old songs “makes our night.”

TWO’S TAKE: Any night is a good night for “Saturday Night Fever.”

CHECK OUT: Joey D’s Rockin’ Oldies Band on Facebook

BE THE JUDGE: Thursdays, July 12 and 19, and every Thursday night in August, at the Gateway Restaurant and Lounge, Ship Bottom.  —V.F.
