Volunteers are needed for the Oct. 8 and 9 dates of the LBI FLY International Kite Festival.

A variety of tasks and shifts are available, starting at 8 a.m. and lasting all or part of the day. Help is needed at several locations up and down the Island. The LBI Shuttle will be running and can get volunteers to their tasks, organizers say.

Several people will be needed to help the kite flyers directly with the kites.

All volunteers will receive an LBI FLY T-shirt.

To sign up, go to the website and follow to the prompts, or call the LBI Chamber of Commerce at 609-361-3395.

The 2nd Annual LBI Fly International Kite Festival will again be gracing the beaches of Long Beach Island over the course of Columbus Day Weekend, Oct. 7-10. “LBI Fly was organized to bring the brilliant colorful artist-designed kites, fun flying giant inflatable kites, and the amazing show of sport kiting to our beautiful island,” says the website, where a full schedule of events can be found.

“This free and cross-generational event will yield even more spectacular and unusual kites this year – as well as displayed at local galleries prior to the festival.”  —M.S.
