Aug 06, 2018

The Summer Jazz Series continues at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies as La Chanteuse, Miss Paula Johns and the David Hartl Trio are set to perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12. The musicians will present “What's It All About: a Tribute to Burt Bacharach & Dionne Warwick.”

“Each summer, the LBIF presents national and international jazz artists in a fun, relaxed atmosphere where learning is listening,” said Jillian Schratz, LBIF membership and community coordinator. “The evenings begin with wine or a signature cocktail and snacks. Sara Michaels, jazz vocalist and Harvey Cedars resident, gives an introduction to get the audience tuned in to appreciate and enjoy the evening.”

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and include two drink tickets. (Beer or wine is one drink ticket, while a signature cocktail is two drink tickets.) Student tickets are $10.

Plates of “little bites” will be available for $5.

On the 12th, Schratz noted, “guests will hear songs like ‘Alfie,’ ‘What the World Needs Now,’ ‘Valley of the Dolls,’ ‘The Look of Love,’ ‘I Say a Little Prayer’ and many other familiar and not-so-familiar songs.

“The musicians will recount the relationship between Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick, as well as the many other singers that Bacharach worked with throughout his amazing career. Sharing the stage in this presentation will be the Dave Hartl Trio, comprised of musical director Dave Hartl on piano, Andy Lalasis on bass and Grant MacAvoy on drums.”
