LBI Kiwanis Flea Market is July 12 in Ship Bottom

Jul 04, 2018

The Kiwanis Club of LBI holds its first of two flea markets for the summer on Thursday, July 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ship Bottom boat ramp waterfront park, located at 10th Street and Shore Avenue. The rain date is Friday, July 13.

Event coordinator Wally Mianowski said 60 to 65 vendors should be on site.

“That’s what we usually get for flea markets both in July and August,” said Mianowski. “It’s like a large boutique, as most of the vendors display clothing and jewelry.”

He said vendors pay $60 for each event.

“They have a 20-by-20 foot table and are also allowed to bring their vehicle on the premises,”  said Mianowski.

David Young, Kiwanis publicity person, said funds raised from the vendor fees go to support scholarships, the Maximilian Foundation and citizens awards to many Ocean County students each year.

“Kiwanis tries to serve children and youth with two approaches,” said Young. “One attempts to improve the quality of life directly through activities promoting health and education, and the other tries to encourage leadership and service among youths.”

The second flea market is on Thursday, Aug. 16, from 8 to 4; rain date is Aug. 17.

There are still vendor openings for the July event. Call Mianowski at 609-713-6637 for information or visit kiwanislbi.org. —E.E.
