Saturday, Nov. 24 is Small Business Saturday, when Beach Haven’s business owners hope customers support local shops, bars and restaurants in a relaxed atmosphere after the Black Friday free-for-all.

One Queen City entity celebrating Small Business Saturday isn’t a store. Oh, you can buy gifts at the Long Beach Island Historical Museum at its Celebrate the Season Open House from noon to 7 p.m. But you can also enjoy caroling, an Elves Maker Workshop for kids and even roasting marshmallows in the fire pit across the street in Veterans Memorial Park.

The 136-year-old museum building is always an interesting place to visit with its displays commemorating such Jersey Shore and LBI historic icons as boardwalks, baymen, lifesaving stations and shipwrecks, historic hotels and duck hunting. It will be especially interesting on Nov. 24 considering it will be decked out in holiday finery, including a Christmas tree that will be lit for the first time this season.  —R.M.
