Little Egg Harbor Committeeman Kehm Denies Fellow Committeeman’s Charges

Sep 05, 2018

Little Egg Harbor Committeeman John Kehm said Tuesday that although he and Committeeman David Schlick “don’t see eye to eye” on many issues, he denies that he has insulted, harassed or otherwise bullied Schlick as Schlick claims in a May 17 tort claim document on file in the township.

In that document, Schlick asks for $1 million from the township for damage to his name and political career as a result of Kehm’s alleged defamatory statements.

Schlick has said there are more statements made by Kehm that insult Schlick’s family that he would rather not repeat in print. “I am not suing,” said Schlick. “This is merely a tort claim, which in my eyes is a strong warning to knock off the nonsense.”

Incumbent Schlick and newcomer Todd Nugent are running for committee this November on the Democratic ticket against incumbent Lisa Stevens and newcomer Blaise Scibetta on the Republican ticket.

According to law, a tort claim is not a lawsuit; it’s an intent to sue if the situation in question does not improve.  —P.J.
