Little Egg Harbor Hires Acting Chief Financial Officer

Jul 11, 2018

During a special meeting held on July 2, Mayor Ray Gormley and the Little Egg Harbor Township Committee hired Rodney Haines as acting chief financial officer with an annual salary of $95,000 effective July 2. Haines will begin work on July 15 while former CFO and Business Administrator Garrett Loesch is on leave using his vacation and sick time until Nov. 2.

On Tuesday, Gormley said Haines’ former employment was with the township’s auditor, Holman and Frenia. “He used to audit CFOs, so he has extensive background and credentials,” the mayor said. Yet Haines has yet to sit for his CFO test as he has one more class to take.

The mayor and committee have also interviewed a number of qualified people for the position of business administrator and plan on making a selection from three of them during final interviews at an executive session after the scheduled July 12 municipal meeting.

Gormley was also excited to relate that the township has opened the bids for the dredging of lagoons on Osborn Island and will announce that selection at either the July 12 meeting or the special meeting on Saturday, July 14, at 7 p.m. for (primarily) Osborn Island residents, at the Ed Thorton Community Center on Calabreeze Way. —P.J.
