Long Beach Island Board of Education Seats in Contention This November

Taxpayers in Long Beach Township, Surf City and Ship Bottom will have the opportunity to vote for candidates to fill seats on the Long Beach Island Board of Education this fall. The general election will be held on Nov. 7.

The following three tenures are ending: Georgene Hartmann, Long Beach Township; Allyn Kain, Surf City; and Jennifer Bott, Ship Bottom.

Hartmann will contend with Richard Vaughan to retain her seat, while Kain will be opposed by John McMenamin. Hartmann and Kain are both longtime members of the board.

Meanwhile, William Fenimore is running unopposed to serve as the Ship Bottom representative.

Those elected will serve terms of three years.

Individuals intending to run for the board of education were required to file petitions by July 31.
