Long-Winded Essay

May 24, 2017

To the Editor:

This is in response to Kevin Rooney’s long-winded essay in the May 10 edition. I am an Independent, so I am not partial to either the Republicans or the Democrats.

I do know that we have a very outspoken president. Sometimes I agree with him and sometimes I don’t. And maybe his being so outspoken is what gets him into trouble at times, but maybe that’s just what this country needed after all. I don’t think he was elected to have “politics as usual.”

But this constant assault by the mainstream media is so obvious. Even when they have a “debate” it is so one-sided. I used to watch CNN all the time, but I have had to switch to the Fox News Network because it was getting ridiculous.

Mr. Rooney, you surprise me, one with your credentials, that you believe that politicians in the past never lie, never cover up their mistakes, and now that we have a businessman who actually does tell you exactly what is on his mind, whether you want to hear it or not, and most importantly what the voters wanted (unless that doesn’t matter anymore) and that isn’t any good either. You can always pick apart someone’s words and spin them any way you want. Actions speak louder than words.

So let’s stand together for once and get some things done.
