Charcoal was made from the plentiful trees in the Pine Battens. A charcoal mound was covered with sand, tree limbs and moss and left to burn slowly. Colliers were men who tended the charcoal mounds to make sure the entire pile of wood did not go up in smoke.

Historian Patti Trasferini and master basket maker Mary May present the program.

Two Lecture Times: 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
