Make Voices Heard

Nov 01, 2017

To the Editor:

I have no intention of specifically responding to Barnegat Mayor Al Bille (“The True Story,” 10/18). I will, however, state that Mr. Bille’s comments were a personal attack on me, while my factual comments were directed at our elected officials and what they said as our representatives at our township committee meeting in September.

What I do want to write about, as we get closer to Election Day, is to stress the importance of voting, especially in our current political environment. We experienced last year what happens when people are apathetic about voting. We woke up on that Wednesday morning like we got punched in the gut.

Voting isn’t just important to democracy. Voting is democracy. By voting, you are making your voice heard, thereby letting our elected officials know your opinion on how you think the government should operate. This is a very important responsibility, one not to be taken lightly. Get out and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 7. If you can’t vote in person, get a vote by mail application from the county clerk.
