Mark the Calendar: Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Co. Christmas Tree Sale Begins this Month

Nov 14, 2018

Before Santa Claus comes to town Dec. 1 as part of the 39th annual Ship Bottom Christmas parade, another long-standing borough tradition kicks off: live Christmas trees for sale at the Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Co.

The Christmas tree sale, just one of the holiday season’s fundraising events for the volunteer fire company, kicks off Wednesday, Nov. 28, nearly a full week after Thanksgiving due to the early arrival of the holiday this year. Trees are available until Christmas Eve or until they run out, whichever comes first.

The Pennsylvania Douglas firs come from a family-run Christmas tree farm, and sizes range from 3 feet to 12 feet.

Not only are the trees freshly cut, but the prices are competitive, and the fire company offers free delivery for Island residents, and within reason on the mainland, too.  Worried about getting the tree into the house once it’s been delivered? Don’t be – the firefighters will carry the tree into the house.

Stop by the firehouse, 20th Street and Central Avenue in Ship Bottom, from 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to check out the trees. The sale also runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The event is closed Tuesdays and Thursdays. Stay tuned for more information about this event and other holiday events that benefit the fire company. —G.G.S.
