Modern Militia

Aug 08, 2018

To the Editor:

Our masters in waiting, controlling the deep state, understand all too well that the Second Amendment is the linchpin that holds the Constitution and its guarantee of human rights together. Let us never forget the wisdom and sacrifices of those who came before us to secure those rights and more importantly impart those rights to subsequent generations. A majority in Congress realizes this, even across political divides. It is not the NRA or gun manufacturers that politicians fear, but the retribution of the 100 million armed citizens who vote.

America’s armed citizenry is truly virtuous. This is evidenced by the infinitesimally small fraction of the 300 million weapons in America that have been used in criminal activity. Being a pacifist is a perk that can only be achieved through the internal and external security of a nation. What better way to secure the nation than through a voluntarily armed citizenry? Armed Americans represent the largest standing militia in history, protecting by proxy the rights of other western nations that have foolishly chosen to disarm themselves.

Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens wrote an op-ed in the New York Times advocating for the repeal of the Second Amendment. While this is an honest opinion, it verifies the fears of Second Amendment champions across the nation. Over 100 million unarmed people were killed by their own socialist governments during the 20th century, more than in all the wars in recorded history.

Embrace the Second Amendment as written, for if it goes, so will the First through 10th, followed by the collapse of America and the downfall of western civilization. For writers disparaging the AR-15, there are 15 million in America, 99.9999 percent of which are owned by peace-loving citizens. Without the AR-15 and other so-called weapons of war, freedom and the possibility of ever writing letters to the editor would not be possible.
