Mother’s Day Tea Party Benefits Surflight Theatre Program

May 02, 2018

A Mother’s Day High Tea and Lunch at the Surflight Theatre’s Show Place Ice Cream Parlour is a fabulous way to treat mom, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the intern/apprentice program at the Surflight.

The dates are May 12 and 13, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $42.50 for adults, and $15 for children 12 and younger. Patrons will enjoy high tea and a light lunch with lovely linens and china and the accompaniment of live jazz and classical music by pianist Dennis Linde.

Mom will be dazzled by a beautiful display of tablescapes – the vintage china is from around the world.

The multi-course tea party, hosted by local business Tea Party to Go, will feature soup, salad, three flavors of traditional tea sandwiches and scones. Scones are served with homemade clotted cream and a variety of jams and jellies.

Plus, mom will be served some delicious sweet treats, and she will get to enjoy all the tea she can drink, from Tea Party to Go’s special selection of Harney and Sons Teas.

The menu features: butternut squash soup; Strawberry Fields salad (a blend of Italian greens, fresh strawberries and walnuts with a strawberry vinaigrette dressing); sandwich selection of cucumber and chive butter, egg salad, and Caprese cups (fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil in a toasted filo cup drizzled with a balsamic glaze); fresh-made buttery scones served with homemade clotted cream and jam; and for dessert, a variety of locally baked cookies, cakes, and pastries.
