New Borough Hall Will Showcase Art

Oct 31, 2018

The new Beach Haven Borough Hall will be a place for more than handling day-to-day business. It will also serve as a venue for area artists to display their works.

“We have a lot of wall space,” said Mayor Nancy Taggart Davis. “Artwork will enhance the atmosphere, especially with paintings showing shore scenes.”

That is what is currently on display through Nov. 13, according to Suzy Hoffman, a member of the Pine Shores Art Association board who is helping coordinate the display.

“We have 88 paintings, represented by 50 to 60 artists,” said Hoffman. “They’re all paintings related to Long Beach Island.”

Hoffman said that following that exhibition, a collection of shore-themed photographs will adorn the walls. It will run through Jan. 7.

She said that eventually, she wants to go into partnership with the Noyes Museum of Art, which is now part of Stockton University. Hoffman said Davis helped facilitate that arrangement since she serves on the Stockton Board of Trustees. Davis is professor emerita of pathology at Stockton, where she was a member of the faculty from 1973 to 2015.

“What we’re thinking of doing is have Pine Shores artists featured on the first floor and have Noyes exhibits on the second floor,” said Hoffman. E.E.
