May 09, 2018

The Long Beach Island Board of Education approved a $115,000 contract for a new school business administrator/board secretary at a recent meeting, while also agreeing to a contractor for the interim school business administrator.

Christine Kelly’s contract is expected to be prorated for the period beginning May 17, but no later than June 18, through June 30 of this year, according to the minutes of the April 17 meeting. In a separate contract for Kelly, the $115,000 salary is for July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 as approved by the executive county superintendent.

Interim School Business Administrator Brian Savage was approved at the salary of $100 an hour for no more than 16 hours a week beginning April 18, according to the minutes of the April 17 meeting. His contract was expected to run through June 17 or until the board hired a full-time administrator. His contract was also approved by the executive county superintendent.

“We are excited about the new business administrator,” board President James Donahower said earlier this week.

The school board accepted the letter of resignation from former business administrator Megan Gally at its March 19 meeting, the first back in the LBI Grade School. —G.G.S.
