No. 1 Treatment

Nov 22, 2017

To the Editor:

Over the past year my wife, Noreen, was admitted to Southern Ocean Medical Center with a number of serious medical conditions. Most times she was admitted through the emergency room. This past year she was treated on all four floors including the Critical Care Unit. Her problems were all related to the heart or lungs. During each of her stays she was diagnosed, treated, found to be sound and sent home.

The real reason for this letter is to praise and thank each and every person associated with SOMC. The doctors, nurses, aides, technicians, support staff, security and anyone I may have missed treated her with the utmost respect, dignity and compassion. Professionalism was never a question as each performed his or her specialties. Her treatments and comfort were number one.

Noreen passed away on Nov. 17 in the Hospice Unit. She was a cancer patient. She had been diagnosed in September 2012 and given one year to live. She beat the odds and was with me for five years-plus. I attribute her being with me for those five years to the care and treatments she received at Southern Ocean Medical Center. Thank you all and may God bless each and every one of you.
