Ocean County College Hosts Free Workshops on Technology Solutions for Veterans

Jul 10, 2018

Veterans, military personnel and their family members are invited to attend a free workshop – Project TechVet: Technology Solutions for Veterans – on the Ocean County College main campus in Toms River on Tuesday, July 24, or at the college’s Southern Education Center satellite site in Manahawkin on Thursday, Aug. 23. Both workshops will run from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by technology demonstrations until 3 p.m.

Workshop leaders will explain technology devices designed to help with anxiety, vision loss, memory skills, organization, reading, computer access and more.

Requests for reasonable accommodations – such as an ASL interpreter, large print or alternate format materials – must be submitted with registration no later than July 13 for the event on the main campus, or by Aug. 14 for the workshop at the SEC.

Project TechVet is funded in part by ATAC/Disability Rights New Jersey, via a grant focused on providing an awareness of assistive technology solutions for veterans and military personnel with disabilities, and in collaboration with OCC Veterans Services.

OCC’s main campus is located on College Drive in Toms River. The SEC is at 195 Cedar Bridge Rd. in Manahawkin.
