The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is asking the public’s help in locating a Little Egg Harbor contractor who scammed a dozen local Sandy victims trying to rebuild after the 2012 superstorm. Peter Rinaldi, age 56, operated companies under the names of Donovan Mark Custom Builders LLC and Mark Anthony Custom Builders LLC.

He allegedly deposited approximately $247,244 into his bank account as well as using a check cashing facility and spent it while not providing any materials, supplies or labor.

After his indictment, Rinaldi could not be located at any of his listed addresses by detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Economic Crimes Unit as they attempted to serve him his complaint summons.

The crimes are second degree theft by deception and second degree theft by failure to make required disposition of property received.

Rinaldi allegedly took the money between July 2014 and August 2016 for proposed construction projects.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have contracted with Rinaldi for work not completed can contact Ocean County Prosecutor Economic Crimes Det. James Conroy at 732-814-1697. Anyone with information regarding Rinaldi’s whereabouts is asked to contact Conroy, their local police or the U.S. Marshals Service by email at usms.wanted@usdoj.gov. —P.J.
