Once Snow Comes, Barnegat Plans Snowman Building Contest

Nov 09, 2018

While forecasters have hinted it may be a mild winter, the Barnegat Township Recreation Department is hoping for some fresh falling white stuff now and then so it can get entries for a snowman building contest. Jeanne Broadbent, recreation director, said the contest is open to residents of all ages and township businesses. Any accessories can be added to the snowmen, but the entry must be suitable for all viewing audiences.

She said all entries should consist of a photograph of the snowman and must have at least one of the builders in the photo for scale. Up to two photos per snowman may be submitted. Information accompanying the photo must include name(s) of the builders, address, telephone number and date the snowman was built.

“Entrants are encouraged to add their own creative touches that will make their snowman unique,” she said. “Judging will be based upon originality and creativity.”

A prize basket will be awarded to the winners. Entry photos must be dropped off at the recreation office or emailed to jbroadbent@barnegat.net by March 4.
