Parade Thanks

Dec 20, 2017

To the Editor:

I want to thank Ed English for inviting me to be the grand marshal in this year’s Ship Bottom Christmas Parade. A lot of planning and hard work goes into the Christmas Parade each year, starting with the mayor and council. The parade is organized by Councilman Ed English and Borough Clerk Kathy Wells, with her team of elves, and volunteer members of the parade committee with the Southern Regional High School Communications Department. They all brought Christmas alive to our community.

A very special thank-you to our own Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Co. for the use of the 1937 fire truck, which they so lovingly have brought back to shape after Superstorm Sandy. Joining me on the fire truck were Mayor Bill Huelsenbeck and past Chief Rick Traut, assisted by past President Danny English watching over the children on the back of the truck.

Thank you to the Ship Bottom police and Public Works Department, Long Beach Township police and Beach Patrol, and the Surf City, Harvey Cedars, Beach Haven and Stafford police, with the Ocean County sheriff officers and Ocean County workers keeping the parade safe.

To all I wish a very merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Robert Potter

Ship Bottom
