Pet Parades a Part of Beach Haven Holiday Festivities Dec. 9

Dec 04, 2017

Buddy’s Pet Stop in Beach Haven will be holding pet parades in Bay Village on Saturday, Dec. 9, from noon to 3 p.m. Pet adoptions, pictures with Santa Claus and holiday costume prizes will be offered. All proceeds will benefit OnebyOne Rescue, which serves Long Beach Island and Stafford and Barnegat townships.

Maria Petrola, Buddy’s Pet Stop owner, said there will be two separate parades, at 12:30 and 2. Prizes will be awarded for most creative, best holiday representation and best family collaboration.

“This is our third year of the parade,” said Petrola. “Last year, we had 45 dogs and five cats. One husband and wife came dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.”

Petrola said a holiday-themed face painter will be on hand.

“There will be holiday themed dog- and cat -related toys, treats and custom LBI pet merchandise available for purchase,” she said. “We’ll have kids dressed as elves taking donations for the rescue group.”

In addition, she said Bay Village will also be the site of the second annual Cookie Wars, which invites residents and visitors to taste a cookie from each participating store. Tasting and voting will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, or until the cookies run out.

Santa will also be at Bay Village to greet and have photos taken with young children from noon to 2.

“It’s going to be a fun family afternoon at Schooner’s Wharf and Bay Village,” said Petrola.
