Pinelands Regional Will Share Business Administrator With Little Egg Harbor

Dec 18, 2018

The Pinelands Regional School District Board of Education formally approved three more shared service agreements with the Little Egg Harbor School District at its Dec. 12 meeting.

Nicholas K. Brown, already the business administrator and board secretary for the LEHSD, is now the business administrator and board secretary for Pinelands as well. Pinelands will pay the Little Egg Harbor District $100,000 annually for Brown’s services.

The Pinelands business administrator/board secretary position opened up when Stephen Brennan, who had served in that position for Pinelands for 11 years, left to assume similar duties for the Barnegat Township School District in October.

Pinelands also agreed to pay the LEHSD $65 an hour for shared bookkeeper services.

Finally, Pinelands will now share a night custodial/mechanic/maintenance supervisor, Bruce Stranahan, with the LEHSD. His salary was not immediately announced.

Melissa McCooley already serves as superintendent of schools for both districts.

In other news, Pinelands Athletic Director Will Sundermann told the board that the junior high school will be starting up a boys volleyball program this spring.

The Pinelands girls volleyball program started out the same way with a middle school/junior high team several years ago. When the girls reached the high school level, the program was immediately successful, with the team winning Shore Conference championships the past two seasons.

There was, said Sundermann, great student demand for a boys volleyball program. – R.M.
