Powerful Production

May 23, 2018

To the Editor:

The Garden Club of Long Beach Island is delighted to be showing the film “A Plastic Ocean.” The epic documentary, directed by Australian journalist Craig Leeson, filmed over four years, in 20 locations is a powerful production.

Viewers follow a world-record free diver and a filmmaker as they travel our planet’s oceans and see the beauty and vast interrelated expanses of the oceans as well as the graphic sights of the impact of plastic pollution on the marine ecosystems and human health. A team of international scientists immerse the viewer in visions of the causes and consequences of plastic pollution and also provide workable technology and policy solutions that can change things for the better. We invite viewers to become more informed and to be a part of the solution to pollution.

“A Plastic Ocean” will be shown on six occasions, in Stafford Township and Long Beach Island. The first screening will take place Wednesday, June 6 at 6 p.m., Ocean Acres Community Center, 489 Nautilus Drive, Manahawkin.
