Public Excluded From Little Egg Harbor Contracts Meeting

Dec 13, 2017

A special meeting called for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 by the Little Egg Harbor Township Committee was held to discuss contractual matters, read a notice posted on the door of the township hall on Thursday.

All five committee members attended the meeting that was held in Mayor Ray Gormley’s office because the court was in session in the meeting hall. Also in attendance were Business Administrator Garrett Loesch, township attorney Jean Cipriani and labor counsel E. David Mallard from Citta, Holzapfel and Zabarsky.Three members of the public and a reporter were also there, but not for long.

After beginning the meeting, Cipriani asked Mallard if he anticipated any formal action and he said no. The  meeting was then only open to the public for comments before the committee went into executive session.

When asked by a reporter why the meeting was held on short notice in the morning rather than waiting for the regular meeting scheduled for Dec. 14 at 7 p.m., Cipriani said it was the only time the labor counsel could meet.  —P.J.
