Readables and Edibles at Stafford Library Nov. 26

Nov 18, 2013

The Friends of the Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library are holding a book/bake sale on Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower-level meeting room.

Event coordinator Marion Gwynn said hardcovers cost $1; paperbacks cost 25 cents individually or five for $1.

“With this sale, we’re going to add a 50 percent discount, so whatever you buy will be at half-price,” said Gwynn. “In addition, we’re also going to have large, brown bags with 10 to 15 books, and they can be bought for $1. We’re doing this to try to sell off as many books as possible because we have a large amount, and we want to clear out our inventory."

She said the books could be items that are no longer circulated in the branch or given through private donations.

Gwynn said that in addition, there would be a variety of baked goods – brownies, cookies, cakes and pies – available for sale.

“These could be dessert items for the Thanksgiving meal,” she said.

The Friends traditionally hold the book sale on the last Thursday of each month, but since that falls on the day after Christmas in December, the next sale will be in January. —E.E.
