Rescue Thanks

Jun 21, 2017

To the Editor:

This past Saturday, June 11, we received a phone call from our son telling us that our daughter and our granddaughters were being transported to the hospital.

They were in the ocean only a few yards offshore when they were caught in a riptide. One of the girls was able to get back to the beach while her mom and sister were struggling. Within moments the lifeguards were there. One young lady grabbed them and was able with the assistance of the other guards to bring them both to safety.

Being parents of four and grandparents of five, there’s not a day that goes by that you don’t worry.

We and our family would like to thank the lifeguards, volunteer ambulance squad and the police of Surf City. Many thanks to all who helped.

We have some of the best lifeguards on our Island beaches. We sometimes take them for granted and don't always realize how brace and important they are to our lives, our economy, etc.
