Feb 21, 2018

The topic of a forum Feb. 28 is “Risky Business – How to Limit Liabilities Associated With Using Volunteers.” The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce partners with Stockton University to present this free talk in an ongoing series of Nonprofit Solutions forums.

The program begins 10 a.m. at Stockton Manahawkin Campus, 712 East Bay Ave., Manahawkin. Registration is requested. Chamber members get preference if the event fills up. RSVP by e-mailing info@sochamber.com or by calling 609-494-7211.

Risks and benefits of using volunteers is the focus of the discussion presented by Stockton adjunct professor Karen M. Garcia, Esq. Topics include “liability for acts of your volunteer, protecting your organization and protecting your volunteers.”

The event schedule will include time to network among nonprofit agency members who will attend. There will also be updates on Southern Ocean Chamber activities. Refreshments will be served.

The chamber has been holding nonprofit forums for almost a decade as an effort to educate and empower local nonprofit members.  —M.S.
