“Welcome to Salon Do Or Dye, where city style and quality is brought to the Jersey Shore,” invite the owners of this new salon. Cyndy Lee Castaldo and Alyssa Marie Galluccio are excited to bring the new hair studio to Lenape Square Plaza on Mathistown Road in Little Egg Harbor.

When the two friends decided they wanted to achieve their dream of opening up a hair studio, they thought what better way than with each other.

Castaldo has been in the industry since 2011 and has an extensive background in makeup, skin and hair. She has been working in salons at the Jersey Shore for almost five years, doing wedding and event makeup, nails and hair transformations.

Galluccio has a wide background in hair, skin and nails since 2010, working in salons in North Jersey. When she is not behind the chair making her guests feel amazing, she is helping aspiring cosmetologists reach their dream at an accredited cosmetology school, where she is an instructor.

Both stylists continue their education consistently by attending a variety of cutting, styling and coloring classes.

Castaldo is from West Caldwell. She moved with her husband and two little girls to Little Egg Harbor in August 2017. Galluccio, from Verona, is not a stranger to South Jersey. She lived in Toms River before moving to Verona with her family. The two owners have been friends since they were 16 years old.

Castaldo was looking for a closer commute to work when she discovered the salon site was available. She called the real estate agency, took a tour of the inside, fell in love and enlisted the help of Galluccio. From there, Salon Do Or Dye was born.

Both owners are passionate about what they do. They say, “You never work a day in your life if you find something you are absolutely passionate about.”

Salon Do Or Dye offers hair cutting and styling, color, makeup, waxing and more. It also offers services for wedding parties, girls’ nights out, bachelorette parties, prom and any other special events.

They are firm believers that healthy hair is happy hair, and work to get customers to their hair goals without compromising the integrity of the hair.

Consultation is key, the stylists say. They will “sit down with you to understand what hair goal you are trying to achieve and will educate you on how to maintain your hair and achieve the salon style at home,” the owners noted.

They also offer a variety of conditioning treatments and a soothing experience at the shampoo bar to follow.

Men are encouraged to come in for a haircut or other hair services. Family and accommodation are important at this salon, and they welcome children and seniors. They specialize in serving guests with special needs, such as autism.

“Upon arriving you will notice that there are photos of Marilyn Monroe in the waiting area. She has positive ideals, as being true to yourself, and is a classic Hollywood beauty,” the owners pointed out.

There is also a mini coffee bar with a variety of flavors, and a color station where guests can charge their phone, eat a snack or just hang out while waiting for their color transformation to be complete.

“Summer’s here and so are the fun, playful trends,” Castaldo and Galluccio pointed out. “Salon Do Or Dye recommends some balayage for a sun-kissed natural look; the classic ombre for a transition; or a shadow root look for easy upkeep. If you’re looking for a fantasy color, rose golds, purples and teals are here! As far as styling, blow dries are always in, but beachy waves are appearing more and more.”

Carrying a variety of shampoos, conditioners and styling products, the stylists will help you find something that will be a perfect match for your hair type and needs. On display for sale is a full collection of jewelry for any occasion.

The salon offers senior discounts and $5 off for police, fire, EMS and military personnel.

Salon Do Or Dye is open Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The phone number is 609-857-3778. The salon is at 240 Mathistown Rd.,, next to Nail Expo, El Rancho and Body Bronze Tanning. Walk-ins are welcome.

A grand opening on May 20 was joined by township Deputy Mayor Barbara Jo Crea and Committeewoman Lisa Stevens.
