Santa Comes for Breakfast in Barnegat, Lights Up Town Dec. 2

Barnegat Township officially gets into the holiday spirit on Saturday, Dec. 2, when the recreation department holds a breakfast with Santa Claus at 9 a.m. in the community recreation center.

Recreation Director Jean Broadbent said tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for children; infants are admitted free. Reservations must be made in advance. People can bring their own cameras to take photos, and each child who meets Santa receives a free gift.

The breakfast menu, catered by Sweet Jenny’s, includes French toast, western omelets, bacon, muffins, fruit, toast and coffee.

At dusk, Santa returns when the fire company transports him and Mrs. Claus to light the municipal complex at 5:30 p.m. They will also light up the historic Cox House and the downtown gazebo park before stopping by the firehouse on Birdsall Street at approximately 6:30 to greet small children and pose for photos. Admission is free. Hot chocolate and Christmas-style cookies will be served.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 3, the fire company will be begin its “Santa runs” when St. Nick will be transported through various neighborhoods.
