Southern Regional High School’s Clothing Construction class recently made pajama pants with fabric donated by Melinda Danko, a SRHS graduate (Class of 2006) who is now a project manager at Circle Visual, a fabrics and custom design consulting company.

Danko was inspired by the sewing program at Southern and, as a result, pursued a career in fashion. In an effort to give back to the school, she donated high-quality fabrics to the Family and Consumer Science Department.

Two SRHS classes involved in the Jetty Entrepreneurship project are competing to see which can sell the most items they produced.

Each group designed a logo, one of a ship and one of an anchor, and decided on which products they wanted to sell. The final products are long and short sleeve T-shirts and hoodies. All proceeds benefit the Jetty Rock Foundation.

Two students in Southern’s Family Career and Community Leaders of America club, Chelsea Olender, vice president of communications for New Jersey FCCLA, and Kelsey Jacobson, president of New Jersey FCCLA, ran the Fall Leadership Connection meeting with the rest of the State Executive Council at the fall conference in Edison.

During the conference, Southern students had the opportunity to compete in competitive events, go to outstanding student led workshops, and got the chance to hear from keynote speakers to help inspire students to make an impact in their communities.
