Beginning this weekend, Science Saturdays are back. For the 12th consecutive winter, the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences will present interactive lectures on scientific, environmental and sustainability issues that directly affect our coastal community.

The presentations run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Foundation’s main building, unless otherwise noted.

On Jan. 13, James Occi, from Rutgers University’s Center for Vector Biology, will discuss ticks. Topics include the number of tick species in New Jersey; where ticks live, including on LBI; how they feed and more.

A schedule of all upcoming Science Saturday presentations is available online at lbifoundation.org/science/science-saturdays-3. Lectures will be held every Saturday from Jan. 13 to April 28, except for March 31.

Admission to Science Saturdays – organized by the LBIF Science Committee – is free for Foundation members. A $5 donation per person is requested from all other attendees.

Breakfast treats and coffee will be provided by Little Bite of Italy in Surf City.

The Foundation is located at 120 Long Beach Blvd. in Loveladies.
