‘Shop Small Saturday’ and Find Extended Hours Later As Well

Nov 20, 2017

Start the season off locally by shopping “Shop Small Saturday” on Nov. 25 in the Long Beach Island region. Then keep “shopping local” all season long and see what unique gifts are in store.

The Southern Ocean Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Shopping Redefined program is rolling out a new way to help consumers locate shops and restaurants that are typically seasonal and have extended their hours for holiday shopping, services and dining.

The web address where the list can be found is https://visitlbiregion.com/holiday-shopping-program-makes.

Blogs and social postings will feature participating members who are open, as well as in-store specials and holiday happenings beginning Shop Small Saturday, Nov. 25, and throughout the holiday shopping season.

“We are working with our local retailers who are open for gift giving or special services like gift wrapping, workshops or gift certificates, as well as restaurants providing dining, gift certificates and catering,” said Kate Krier, Southern Ocean chamber business outreach coordinator.

Shop Small Saturday is a nationwide promotion, started by American Express, that happens the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. The Southern Ocean chamber is the regional SHOP SMALL headquarters for businesses that want to participate.

Also, the chamber’s Holiday Shopping Redefined program will feature a Holiday Experience card for consumers to pick up at participating locations or the chamber’s Visitor Center, at 265 West Ninth St. in Ship Bottom.

Shoppers can stop into any five of the listed restaurants and any five of the listed retailers to get the card validated. Then they can return the completed card to the chamber office for entry into a raffle to win the Chowderfest Stocking Gift Pack with mug, vintage T-shirt and a gift certificate for 2018’s 30th anniversary Chowderfest, along with show tickets provided by WJRZ Radio.

The program will run from Nov. 25 to Dec. 15. The winner will be randomly selected on Monday, Dec. 18. No purchases are necessary. —M.S.
