Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns

Sep 05, 2018

HOME BASE: Philadelphia region and the shore.

STYLE: Covers of old school and brand new dance party favorites – Tina Turner and Janis Joplin, The Boss, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars.

LINEUP: Ricky “Shorty” Tisch, vocals, keyboard; John Kern, bass and vocals; Matt Kahn, guitar; Devin Stryker, drums; Dee Farace, lead vocals; Neil “Perkilator” Perkins, trombone; Danny Kern, trumpet; and Nick “Waldo” Clifford, Frank Benjamin, Richie Taz and Kyle Kern, all sax.

FUN FACT: Two of the horn players are sons of John Kern, one of the band’s co-founders.

INSIDE TRACK: Having performed in venues small and large, to crowds of 200 to 20,000 from New York to the Florida Keys, the band’s preferred spot remains The Sea Shell in Beach Haven. “For outdoor settings, this is definitely number one,” according to Tisch. “This is the only place where you can sit in the pool, enjoy the band and have a drink. The atmosphere is great.”

TWO’S TAKE: Sixteen years and counting for the world’s greatest party band.
