SOCH Auxiliary Hosts Annual Gene LeBlanc Memorial Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show

Jun 21, 2017

Luncheon and a fashion show have been matched for many years to benefit Southern Ocean Medical Center, previously call Southern Ocean County Hospital. On Tuesday, July 18, the SOCH Auxiliary will host the 43rd annual Gene LeBlanc Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show at 11 a.m. at the Holiday Inn on Route 72 in Manahawkin.

The event benefits the Hackensack Meridian Health Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation.

Models will display affordable fashions from the Island Shop in Brant Beach. Super raffles and several raffle baskets are part of the event.

The ticket price of $35 includes lunch with choice of entrée, dessert and soft drinks. A cash bar will be available.

Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, July 5, from Terry Hardiman at 609-494-7022 or by visiting the Old & New Shop at 440 East Bay Ave., Manahawkin. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The event is chaired by Stefanie Rotsaert.

During the luncheon, four $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to Ocean County residents who plan to major in the health field. The SOCH Auxiliary started awarding a $500 nursing scholarship in 1974. In 1980 it was named “The Gene Leblanc Memorial Scholarship” in honor of LeBlanc, who served as auxiliary president from 1965 to 1973 and was also the auxiliary’s first director of volunteers. —M.S.
