Sorry for Inconvenience

Nov 29, 2017

To the Editor:

This letter is to the residents of Fifth Street in Ship Bottom, between Barnegat and Shore avenues. As the councilman responsible for water and sewer, I want to apologize for the absence of communication prior to the start of the project currently in progress on your street. Brad Friedman’s letter (“No Communication,” 11/22) is accurate; I am sorry for the inconvenience and regret the frustration it has caused. Although too late for your block, we have taken steps that should prevent future occurrences.

I have been told the work will take about two more weeks. Upon completion of the pipe work, your street will have temporary pavement until the spring. This is to allow settling time before paving the block from curb to curb and the return to normalcy for all of you.

Should you have problems during this time, I may be reached via email, rbutkus@shipbottom.org.

Bob Butkus, councilman

Ship Bottom
