The Lighthouse International Film Festival, celebrating its 10th year this June 7 through 10, is now accepting film submissions through two online platforms called FilmFreeway and WithoutaBox, in the categories of animation, documentary, experimental, feature, multimedia, music video, narrative fiction, new media/web, screenplay, short, television and virtual reality.

Simultaneously, submissions are also open for the LIFF’s “Write by the Beach” program, a writers’ retreat for female screenwriters and filmmakers. Write by the Beach offers selected screenwriters the opportunity to spend a week in an LBI beach house leading up to and encompassing the 2018 festival, and to take advantage of the inspiration provided by the scenic backdrop, with no obligation except to foster their creativity in a current project.

Eligible is any female writer with at least one credit as primary screenwriter on a produced short or feature film, with priority in selection given to those writers currently working on feature-length screenplays. In making its selections, LIFF may require additional information, such as but not limited to writing samples, film or equivalent writing credits and a brief synopsis of the current writing project to be focused on during the residency.

Go to lighthousefilmfestival.org >Festival >Submissions >FilmFreeway and scroll down to Write by the Beach Retreat on the right side of the page.

The LIFF is proud to champion cinema in its own unique style, blending the best in modern storytelling with the laidback beach culture of Long Beach Island, and the prestige of a carefully curated lineup of films with the intimacy of local arthouse screenings. The LIFF has cultivated international recognition and a devoted following of filmmakers, industry professionals and local cinephiles and designed the festival setting to put the emphasis squarely on the films and filmmakers.

With networking and relationship-building as priorities, the festival offers screenings and Q&As, industry breakfasts, panel discussions, parties and more activities designed to enable filmmakers to meet their audiences, engage in dialogues about their films, expand their reach, and maximize their enjoyment of the LIFF screening and experience.

The four-day event is a celebration of the myriad ways in which storytelling is exploding.

Submission deadlines are Jan. 26 (early bird), Feb. 23 (regular) and March 16 (late).

The Lighthouse International Film Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to showcasing diverse, dynamic storytelling with a focus on unique voices.
