The fifth annual Summer Art Opener at the m.t. burton gallery in Surf City is set for June 9 and 10. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The weekend kicks off the season of exhibits and events at the gallery and clay studio with an art show and sale and a party in the yard at the corner of 19th and the Boulevard.

Gallery owner Matt Burton said the opener is a celebration of the arts and “the best way to showcase local arts and music.”

An opening reception will take place Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. featuring the art of Alice McEnerney Cook, while vendors Sassafras Hill Farm and Just Jersey are on hand to provide fresh produce, and artists show and sell their work in the Art Market: painters Linda Ramsay, Cathleen Engelsen, Lisa Budd, Prax Serrano, Jo Clarke and John Meehan; photographer Carol Nussbaum; string artist and photographer Leyna Kmiechick; and illustrator Victoria Ford.

Live music starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Sahara Moon opens up, followed by headliners Ryan Zimmerman and Moondrips.
