Surflight Theatre’s 2017 summer season ended on Sept. 10 with the final performance of “Million Dollar Quartet.”

Surflight, though, isn’t going dark. Bring on its autumn season!

New Jersey has a love affair with Bruce Springsteen. But the Boss is busy this fall, preparing for his “Springsteen on Broadway” show that will open in previews on Oct. 3. So Surflight booked the next best thing, the Saints in the City, a veteran Springsteen tribute band that will perform this Saturday, Sept. 30 at 8:30 p.m.

Now, if you’re considering checking out Bruce’s shows in NYC, you’d better get your checkbook out and be prepared to drain your bank account. Tickets for Springsteen on Broadway are routinely cracking the $1,000 mark on secondary markets. And those are the cheap seats! On the other hand, tickets for the Saints in the City show are a bargain at $29.50.

You almost have to laugh over the thought of spending thousands of dollars for a concert. Speaking of laughs, Surflight will provide them on Saturday, Oct. 7 when it presents “Comedy Tonight” at 8:30 p.m. The series is popular, and why not, considering it offers three comedians for a mere $12.50.

Back to rock… On Oct. 20, 21 and 22, Surflight’s Education Department will present “Rock of Ages,” the big-haired glam rock show featuring hits from the 1980s by the likes of Styx, Journey, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison, Europe and another Jersey favorite, Bon Jovi. The curtain will come up at 7:30 p.m. on the 20th and 21st and at 2 p.m. on the 21st and 22nd. Tickets are $20.

Tickets for all of the above events can be purchased online at surflight.org or by phone at 609-492-9477.
